The Farm

This week was our last trip of the season out to Great Country Farms. We were part of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share this year and had a really good time both visiting the farm and in receiving the weekly blue boxes full of fresh, local fruits and veggies. Our friend Elaine educated us about the farm and CSA's in general and we are so happy we participated. During this last trip, they were having an event called "Pumpkin Chuckin' Weekend." This basically means that you take a hay ride (really just a tractor) out to a large pumpkin field, gather as many pumpkins as you want, and take them back to the farm where they have various devices set up to raise the pumpkins up high and then drop from a great distance and smash. I didn't like it very much but it had a good shock appeal I guess. We did have fun feeding pumpkin to the pigs and jumping on the huge jumping pillow. They have awesome play houses too.  Weather was great too.  They plan to put a photo of our family on their website when they redo it in the winter. You can check them out at www.greatcountryfarms.com. We have really special memories there.
