Oh, your laugh! The biggest change in the past couple of months has been your laugh. It's infectious! You laugh much more often as you are developing your sense of humor, and your laugh has a much more grown up sound to it. This morning, we were talking about getting our flu shots. Zoe has stated that she doesn't want one because she thinks it will hurt. When you heard this, you said, "Mom, I already got my flu shot. For real!" And then you threw your head back and started laughing because you had made a joke and used a new phrase.
Your play has continued to evolve. You engage in many imaginary scenarios and make believe games, and you are more often playing with other children as opposed to simply next to them. You talk about your friends and who you look forward to seeing each day. You are particularly fond of an assistant teacher at school who used to babysit for us. Each day you let everyone know how much you like her and how nice she treats you.
We had a squirrel trapped in our house for several days recently (confined to the fireplace fortunately). During this time, you developed a strong adoration for the person who came out on three separate occasions to try and catch it. You often talk about how much you like the "squirrel lady" and want her to come back.
You also continue to be very affectionate towards your sisters. You and Zoe play together and with each others' friends regularly, and you're both very gentle and involved with Sophie.

Part of loving the farm, means that you also love sheep. You take very good care of this one and feed him regularly.

Before school started, you also had your first haircut. You had no problem sitting still in the chair, and were happy about the bag of popcorn that followed.
Your memory is first rate, which means we can't pull anything over on you. You still talk regularly about the pony we rode months ago. Trooper, you'll never know what an impression you made!
In addition to horse rides, trips to the farm, our neighborhood block party, and a visit from Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Ed were fun events this month.
You are every bit as much of a 'jumper' as you were at one years old. You and Zoe jump off of this couch endlessly.

School started. I was curious to see how you would feel about starting a five day a week program. The class meets for three hours each morning. I figured that if you weren't ready for it, we could stop at any time.
Turns out it works very well for you. You are very engaged and come home happily tired and chatting about who you played with and what you did. Your day starts with about 45 minutes of outside time which perfectly suits you. You are thrilled that you get to leave the house and get dropped off each day with Zoe. You also really enjoy the autonomy to get your own snack and drinks, use the bathroom, and choose your own materials to play with each day.
I am personally most pleased with your much improved willingness to stay in bed at night and often in the morning until 6 or 6:30 am. Thank you!
It continues to amaze me how much change can happen in just a few months. What an important life lesson that is.
Love you,
Mom
